Gabriele Stabile is an Italian photographer based in New York and Rome and the co-founder of Raw Messina, an atypical artist run gallery in Rome. A graduate of the ICP, valedictorian in his class, Gabriele has worked extensively on displacement issues. His monograph "Refugee Hotel", that chronicles refugees' resettlement in America, in collaboration with Juliet Linderman, was published in 2012 by Voice of Witness/Mc Sweeneys, San Francisco. His photographs have been shown in solo and collective exhibitions at home and abroad, in galleries and museums, and have appeared on many fine publications including The New York Times, Le Monde, Time, and Newsweek. Listed on the masthead of Lucky Peach since issue #1, Gabriele has been a steady contributor of FADER during Phil Bicker's tenure as art director, and of The New Yorker Magazine. In 2023 his book “Swim till I Sank”, published by RVM hub, won, among others, a mention at Gibellina, one at Paratissima, was shortlisted at photo España and won the coveted Bastianelli prize for best photography book in Italy.
